  • direcTV tivo connect to LCD monitor

I searched the forums, but couldn't find an answer to this question.

I want to buy an LCD monitor to connect to my macbook pro. When I'm not working on my laptop (macbook pro), I'd like to be able to watch directv on the LCD. What is the best way to do this?

Do I need a monitor that is actually a TV, or simply a LCD monitor with speakers?

If I need an LCD TV, can I simply add a coax splitter from the output of directv tivo and connect to LCD TV?
If monitor with speakers, how to connect for video and audio?
    Thanks.

Assuming your DIRECTV receiver is HD, then you'd like to get a monitor with an HDMI input and that is HDCP compliant. Then you can connect the DTV receiver directly to the monitor.

Yes, DirecTV tivo is HD. What about audio? does HDMI carry audio to integrated speakers in LCD monitor?

      Thanks.
