  • Help connecting to network

I have a phillips directv tivo with a new harddrive that I bought here at weeknees. I also have two apple computers on a wireless network. Can I hook up my tivo to my laptop or to the network and record tv shows from my tivo?

Checked alot on the internet but I don't completely understand all of the jargon so I thought I'd just try and ask directly.

    Thanks

Sorry to say, the DirecTV units don't support networking.
    Been here a long time . . .

There is a pretty easy way to get your DTivo on your network.

      First: Google Tivo Zipper.

Second: Read, read, then read some more. There are a lot of things you can do once you get it networked.

      Third: Have fun! Good luck!

So the harddrive upgrade that I installed last year also keeps the usb ports from working on my tivo? I'm not comfortable using the tivo zipper and i can't afford to send to someone else either. Stupid directv tivo!

The HDD upgrade had nothing to do with the USB ports not working. They never worked (other than providing power) and never will unless you alter the software (Zipper being the easiest way I know of).

By the way, ver. 6.2a is probably the best version to hack because it contains the most network type functions (after altering it, of course).
