  • Transfering Recording Breaks Wireless Connection

I have a Series 2 Tivo box. It is connected to my home network using a Tivo USB wireless adapter. It has no problem connecting to the internet to receive updates or download videos, but every time I try to transfer a recording from my Tivo box to my computer or from my computer to my Tivo box it breaks the wireless connection to my computer. Both the computer and the Tivo box are connected wirelessly to a Netgear router and both have a reserved IP address on the router. I was originally had the Tivo box hard wired to the router and experienced no problems transferring recordings. But unfortunately I had to move my router and have had transfer problems ever since. Any thoughts?

Have you tried rebooting the router, and/or updating its firmware?
    Been here a long time . . .

      Hi Michael,

I tried rebooting the router and my firmware is up to date and connections is still drops every time I try to transfer a file to or access a file from my PC. The only thing with a wired connection to that router is the cable modem. So, a desk top, 2 laptops and the Tivo box can potentially be connected at anytime. Could this be too much load for my wireless router?

What kind of signal strength do you get on the TiVo?

Usually between 80 and 95 percent. The wireless router only about 10 feet away from the Tivo box in the next room.
