I have a Series 2 TiVo on which the networking stopped working. Apparently this happened a month ago, but my children only informed me yesterday. I tried restarting the TiVo, swapping the Ethernet cable, entering the IP address manually, but nothing worked. Oh yeah, I'm using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
I tried swapping the USB adapter with two other adapters I brought home from work today (three different brands/models altogether), and on all them them the link lights did not turn on, which is why I suspect that the USB port is fried (yes, I tried the other USB port as well).
So my question is: is it common for the USB ports to fail? What else can I do to debug this situation and to either prove or disprove that the USB port has failed?
Any pointers are much appreciated.
Alfred
