  • Tivo Series 1 gets "Couldn't connect" error on VOIP

    I have a Sony SVR-2000 standalone Tivo Series 1. I dial in using an external modem bought from weaknees.com and it works great using my analog landline. I just switched from landline to Tmobile@home service which uses VOIP and unfortunately now when my Tivo dials in it gives me the error "Failed. Couldn't connect." I have a lifetime subscription and an upgraded hard drive on this one so I'm hoping to keep it running. I tried different techniques in this forum about changing the dial/call waiting prefixes but so far no luck. Does anybody know the right entries to put in to make it work? I would greatly appreciated it because this has been driving me nuts the last few days.

    By the way, does the Turbonet card solve this issue? I don't want to invest more on this Tivo and find out that it doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

    You should give your VoIP provider a call and ask what settings you need to use to use an analog modem using their product. The modem works with a lot of VoIP providers, but we are not familiar with the individual settings of your provider.

      I was hoping for a better answer. Called Tmobile but didn't help much. I tried everything I can think of from searching the net and still could not make it work. If anybody out there is in the same situation and got it to work, please let me know. Thanks.
