  • Can't see my TiVo on Desktop

    I can't see my series II (TCD240004a) TiVo with Desktop. I get a message saying "There are no TiVo DVR's available on the network" which is strange since I can connect the TiVo to the service through my network and can schedule show recordings on TiVo Central Online. Also, strange is that I don't see the TiVo on the router's DHCP client list.

    I use a TiVo-approved wired USB adaptor (Linksys USB200M) connected to a Zyxel wireless bridge to a Linksys WRT54GSV4 wireless router using WPA encryption. And my TiVo software is v9.3.

    I tried restarting the TiVo several times but still no luck. Anyone know why I'm having this problem?

    You do have to enable video transfers on tivo.com if you want to do that.

    Also, are you sure you are on the same subnet as the TiVo? You should have IP addresses in the same range, with only the last octect (numbers after the last ".") being different, in most cases.

      Seems that I wasn't able to see the TiVo on the router DHCP list because my wireless bridge between the router and the Tivo had DHCP enabled.

      Now I can see the TiVo on my network (router's DHCP list - same subnet) but I still have a problem getting Desktop to see the TiVo. When I first disabled DHCP on the Zyxel wireless bridge Desktop could see my TiVo but I got a message saying that there was a problem connecting to it.

      But now for reasons unknown to me, Desktop stopped seeing the TiVo and I'm back to the dreaded "There are no TiVo DVRs available on the network" message even though the router is able to see it and the TiVo is still able to connect to the TiVo service.

      Any ideas/comments (other than I'm over my head)?

      here's how my TiVo is networked :

      TiVo TCD240004a ---> Linksys USB200M wired adapter (USB port);
      Linksys USB200M ---> Zyxel P-300W wireless bridge (via ethernet cable);
      Zyxel bridge ---> Linksys WRT54GSV4 wireless router (WPA2 encryption);
      Linksys wireless router ---> laptop (WPA2 encryption)

      other notes:
      - TiVo is configured to get IP address from a DHCP server
      - connection tests on the TiVo are successful
      - Transfers are "allowed" in My Account
      - Desktop Plus is linked to my TiVo account
      - media access key is correctly entered in Desktop Plus
      - can see TiVo IP address on router's DHCP list

        What are the IP addresses of each device (TiVo and computer)? Are they on the same subnet?
