Series 3 will only use TiVo Wireless Adapter

When TiVo said it will only support the TiVo wireless network adapter, I didn't realize they have them programmed to reject everything else. When I plugged in a Linksys adapter, a message came up saying I can't use any adapter other than the TiVo ($45-59).

That's dirty pool if you ask me.

I think I'd rather hardwire it then give them the satifaction of strongarming me into buying their product for no legitimate reason. You'd think all the money they make on the box + the cost of transferring my lifetime subscription would satisfy their greed.

They had such a hard time with compatibility with third-party adapters on the Series2, that they may have just wanted to stop the nonsense. People were buying approved adapters, then finding out that the manufacturer had changed firmware and that caused incompatibility with TiVos.

Also, the TiVo adapter does some processing itself, so theoretically, it's faster.

But if you can run a wire, that's always the best way. And cheapest.
