OK - so you also need to pull the hard-coded IP address out of the TiVo and set it back to DHCP, so that it can get a new IP address from the router.

But aren't you also using PowerLines to go from the Mac to the router at this point?
PowerLines generally work great, but if the power lines in your house are either old, have static on them, or are on separate leads from the power source, you can have issues. But our experience has been overwhelming positive with these. It's amazing how plug-and-play these have been.Been here a long time . . .

I just realized I can't hook it directly up to the computer to test the connection. There is no TV near the computer to check the Tivo, and I relly don't want to bring the computer , modem, etc. to the TiVo. i think I just have to accept the fact that my old electrical wire will not support this system.
I have one more questin though. When I go the wireless route, do I need just one wireless adapter and a wireless router? Thanks.
