After initial no video input issues (trial and error reviews w other FAQ's) I have determined I have a intermitent RF input connector for a Toshiba SD-H400 unit. The RF input coax connector rotates(spins), so even with a tight connection I do not always get a video input signal. The RF ports seem integrated into to unit. Anyone know what my options are?

Update to loose RF input connector
I assume by no one posting any advice, that no one has experienced a loose RF input connector. I know the connector is the issue, because I can intermittently get signal if I hold the cable/terminal firmly (gets boring fast).
I kbelieve I can get video in via the S-video connector coming from my cable box, but this limits my ability to record omething different than I'm watching... correct? Will S video input (from the cable box) be worse quality than using the coax RF input (assuming it worked?
Can you fix a RF coax input terminal? Since the terminal rotates, I'm assuming the connector on the inside of the RF box has become loose. -
Sorry for missing your first post. If you don't go the route of using the cable box to send S-Vid or composite signal, I think your best best is to simply try a local TV repair shop.That's all there is to it!Comment

Same issue No Video SD-H400
I have a similar problem where the Tivo is not able to find the RF signal. It has been stationary in the TV stand for 3 years so there is no reason for the connector to go bad as if I were moving it a lot. Just one day, it stopped finding a signal (might have been after a storm). Unfortuately, the Local TV repair place told me there was nothing he could do to fix it. His opinion was that the RF tuner went bad and there doesn't seem to be a replacement. I guess it's time to upgrade, unless I can find an SD-H400 that someone is dumping for parts. Love to try to fix it.Comment

Replacement of SD-H400?
Michael,
What would you suggest as a replacement? I can still use the DVD player in it so I only need the TiVo box. I have 10 months lefts on the annual TiVo service (even though I have lifetime basic on the SD-H400, I upgraded for the full TiVo service). When I buy a replacement box, is it just a phone call to transfer that over? I use the wireless USB connection, will that just tranfer over from box to box?

Well, if you don't need/want DVD in the same box, then you can get a Dual Tuner unit here:

Or, if you want another all-in-one unit so that you don't need two units, we have them here:

Those DVD units don't have the basic service, but what they do have is DVD burning in addition to playing.
As far as moving the service contract over, I really don't know the exact details, but I do think that if you move a service contract to a box from the first page above, you won't be eligible for the rebate. So factor that in. The DVD units don't have a rebate.Been here a long time . . .Comment
