  • Now I remember Humax Problems

A coupla years ago, I bought a new Humax. It never worked, and I forgot what the problem was. Wanting to return to TiVo, I am trying again, and have reconnected it to my SA box while awaiting delivery of appropriate Wifi adapter from Tivo. Meanwhile, I tried using a Linksys WUSB54GSC -- which I didn't really expect to work <g>. Further, I cannot find the Humax Peanut.

And, as expected, it is NOT working. But it came up with a screen I remember -- something about couldn't display live TV (I have since disconnected it until I have all the proper equipment.) I want to get a handle on what the problem might be before I once more try to connect it (WiFi). Last time (two years ago) I tried everything I knew how to do before giving up in a sense of total futility and exasperation.

Any ideas what I might do this time around? I'll be using at SA analog DVR and a plain old no frills Samsung. Once I iron out the connection and the problems, I might connect to my Flat Panel HDTV, and/or switch to the DT!

I'll write to you offline about your repairing some other Sony DVRs (I loved the Sony Tivos)

First, I would recommend either a wired connection (using Powerline adapters if necessary) or a TiVo-branded wireless adapter. Any other wireless adapter, especially G, can easily have compatibility problems.

Second, I would recommend that you try going through setup again with your cable connected directly to the back of the TiVo to see if that works.

If it does, then go through setup again and use your cable box, if you need to.

Ah, ya mean hook it directly to the TV without benefit of DVR? Kewl! That's doable. I'll give that a try.

I'm waiting breathlessly for the Tivo adapter, and will go that way soon.

What is a powerline adapter? I don't have a landline.

      Thanks Jeff.

        Waiting for remote

It does go beyond that screen. I cannot go there though, because I have misplaced the remote. Eagerly awaiting my order from Weaknees!
