I purchased a replacement hard drive from Weaknees for a Samsung SIR S4040R model DirecTv Tivo. That Tivo no longer works. I know you generally cannot move a Tivo drive to another Tivo that's a different manufacturer. I can get my hands on a Samsung SIR S4080R. Since the manufacturer of these two Tivos is the same, would the hard drive from the 4040R work with the 4080R? From other posts, I've learned that you generally lose any programming saved on the hard drive and would have to clear and delete anything. Will I have to do that in this situation, assuming the 4080R will accept the drive from the 4040R? Also, are there any material differences between the 4080R and the 4040R? All input would be appreciated.
