  • Samsung DTV Tivo SIR 4040-DR stuck on power up

I was aware something was going wrong, the fans and HD's had become noisy and audio would miss every now and again.

I ordered a new 250 GB HD kit and fans from WeaKnees, but the morning I planned to fit them I found the record light on and the Tivo menu could not be navigated.

A reboot found the screen stuck on almost there.
2nd and subsequent reboots are stuck at powering up.

I installed the new fan, HD and cable but no go - still stuck on Powering Up.

Reading here is seems its more likely MB than Power supply but only the latter can be fixed.

I just purchased a used unit online (will take a few days for shipping) so can move the new HD to it - but I'd like to get this unit running as well.

    Any ideas or comments?

Did you purchase a replace kit or an add kit?
    Been here a long time . . .

Replace this time, previously (2 years) an add on .. as far I recall, heck I added a HD so I guess so .... But if the "P_U" issues occurred prior to installation, what is the suspect?

Are you using only the new drive now, or is it installed with one of the old ones?

FYI it was the power supply.

Only the new HD is being used, strange how it had enough power to get to the powering up screen and no more.

So you ordered a new power supply and that did it? That's definitely unusual, given the symptoms.
