swaping drives between two Roamio,s

I have two roamio units. One has the standard 500 gig drive and the other has a 2T drive. I would like to swap drives between the two roamios to see if there is a networking problem with one of them. Can this be done and keep all the recordings and settings? They are basically the same.
I heard that each hard drive is unique and if you swap them you will lose everything...ugh

Moving those drives could easily force an overwrite. I'm not sure what all of the rules are about when they wipe the drive, but I wouldn't try this at all if you want to save your recordings.
