Hello and I'm glad I found this forum. I have a TiVo Series 2 DT DVR Model TCD649180 that quit working after a storm. My flat screen and DVD player quit working also.
My question is the unit when plugged in has an orange light on the left and red light on the right with no response. Connected to the TV it has no sound or video with either RCA or RF connections.
I just replaced the power supply and I get the same thing. This unit has a lifetime (of the unit of course) subscription on it and I would like to retain that.
Can I swap the HD to another TiVo unit (they are 20-30 bucks on craigslist) and it still work? Assuming the HD is ok of course.
I notice on the side that it has a MAC address, does this change or is it dependent on the HD?
