  • 2nd TV "extender"?

My 2nd Tivo Premiere is on the way (yay!!) and now I'm needing some ideas.

I have a TV in the basement where the both Tivos will be located and TV upstairs in the kitchen. I'd like to be able to go upstairs to the kitchen and watch the same thing that's playing in the basement, whether it's either of the Tivos, my Apple TV2, my DVD player, etc.

I've got a Denon receiver that's handling the HDMI or Component switching to the TV. What would make it possible to send the Denon's HDMI output to both the TV downstairs and the TV upstairs? I'm not sure, but I suspect running an HDMI cable to the TV upstairs might be more than 50' which might run into length issues. Is there a wireless or maybe a wired Ethernet solution? Slingbox might be a solution, but it seems a bit complicated when you have as many devices as I have...

I used to be able to do this in the old days with the old Series1 and Series2 Tivos by using an a/b switch on the coax output to send whichever Tivo output upstairs. Now-a-days with High Def and HDMI/Component outputs things have become ... a bit more complicated.

    Appreciate any input!

I believe there are HDMI to Cat-5 converters, but we don't have any experience with them.

Follow-up: the multi-room streaming between two Premieres solved my problem. It's awesome -- watching a recording that resides on a remote Tivo is *almost* perfect! There's a slight performance drag when skipping forward and rewinding, but it's so slight I'm just amazed every time I use it that it works so well!

Yup - TiVo has really gotten this working pretty well. The only catch here is that the streaming only works Premiere to Premiere. Series3 TiVos can't get in on the action.
        Been here a long time . . .
