Is it possible to take a working hard drive out of a Roamio for cable to replace a nonworking hard drive in an OTA model of Roamio? I wasn't sure if the hard drive was any different in a cable version versus a OTA one, or whether it could just be unscrewed/unhooked from one and switched into the other one. Thanks for any help!

The hard drive would only work in that situation if it were reformatted. Given the age of any hard drive from a Roamio, this likely isn't worth the cost. Best bet is to just get a new hard drive:

I ended up buying a new hard drive and plugged it in. It went through the first set up screen for choosing your country, and then got as far as choosing wifi or Ethernet- I was sure I had fixed it because it got that far (normally it would just say starting up). After I chose Ethernet it stopped and went to the starting up screen just like when it was stuck on it before with the other hard drive. It has a green light in the front(no flashing or anything). Do you think it could be a power supply issue? Why would it get partway through set up and then stop? Any ideas would be appreciated.

If it's a four tuner Roamio, then for sure it could be the power adapter.
We have replacements toward the bottom of this page:
