I've been trying to troubleshoot this problem for a year now. I'm having a problem where my Tivo Edge requires a reboot after My Sony TV has been turned off for a while.
My configureation is this: Tivo Edge with 6tb Weakness external HDD connected through an internal eSata cable, SonyXR65A80CK, Denon AVR4311 av receiver.
Tivo is connected to Sony via HDMI4, Sony is connected to Denon via HDMI 3 utilizing ARC to route audio from the TV through the Denon and external speakers.
When functioning, everything works ok. But after turning the TV off for a period and turning it back on, I found that the Tivo had stopped recording and in fact was not putting a signal out to the TV (as shown by an error on the Sony saying 'no signal'). This situation requires a simultaneous power off/on cycle of the Tivo and Weakness HDD. This has been going on for a year now. Very annoying. I've gone over every Tivo and Sony setting but nothing I've tried has resolved the issue.
Last night, by chance, I noticed that the power light to the HDD was off when this reboot situation occurred. (I only noticed it after a year because the HDD is squirrled away in a cabinet where I can't see it under normal circumstances.) Upon finding the HDD had powered down, I turned the Sony ON, and the HDD immediately powered on. Of course the Tivo required powering down and restarting inorder to reboot and 'resync' with the HDD.
The Tivo and HDD combination will work continuously as long as the TV is powered on.
So, my question is, what could be coming from the Sony, through the Tivo, and on to the HDD to cause it to power off? I've turned off all power saving features of the Sony and the Tivo. And turned off Tivo's feature that sends a power on to the TV when the Tivo button is pressed. I DO have the TV power on when the tivo remote power on button is pressed. Any 'sleep' mode the drive could be going into, even though Tivo causes constant drive activity?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
