My Series 2 has what I believe to be quite a few marginal or bad sectors which cause intermittent pixelation in playback from time to time. I've run kickstart 57 and it does run, however, since it is all done in only about 10 minutes, I can't believe it is reading the entire drive, as it is 750gb and should take much longer to process, I'd guess.
So, I'm assuming ks 58 would do the whole drive; however, like another poster, when I do a 58, the tivo appears to instead execute a 56, where it says it's installing a software update.
So - is there a different kickstart which will in fact scan and fix the entire disk for bad sectors? I'm a little reluctant to just muck about trying all the codes, for fear of accidentally discovering the "nuke all instantly" code...
