  • Can you help me with this system?

I was hoping for some specific hardware advice on our new system.

The goal is to rid ourselves of the hungry hippo comcast cable.

We figure we'll stay with them for phone and internet but for content they're charging too much for too little.

This is the model that seems to work for us:
    http://www.cheaplinks.net/articles/39.php

    TIVO Premiere box
    TIVO monthly service
    NetFlix subscription
We might also keep our current Blockbuster subscription
    Antenna? or Basic Cable?
Torrent Episode Downloader (subscribe to non NetFlix shows)
    uTorrent (download the Torrent shows)
    Windows Intel PC
pyTivo (transfer uTorrent downloads from PC to Tivo)

    QUESTIONS

    LOWER CHANNELS
For the lower channels is an antenna or sticking with Comcast better? If an antenna, how do you choose the hardware? (We live in southern New Hampshire)

    PREMIERE BOX
For the Tivo Premiere, can we start small and upgrade to more storage later? I can't figure out which Premiere to get.

    PC
For the computer: I really want to use this same computer to work as well as watch TV. Is that realistic? Does it need any kick ass components such as RAM or video card?

    Thanks for any advice!!

      antennaweb - my results include
yellow vhf, green uhf, red uhf, blue uhf and violet uhf

how do you know what antenna to buy from that list?

premiere - what is the base model then? The model #?

PC - Take a look at that article, the guy has hooked up an intel windows pc to the tivo to download content. If I go that route I want to make sure the PC is powerful enough.

Antennaweb - they should direct you to a list of compatible antennas.

Premiere - the models are here:

no that's what i'm saying, i put the antenna web info in and it came back with 5 separate antennas I need to buy.

I guess I need to stay with cable then.

The antennas are rated by color for their ability to pick up distant stations.

Just buy the antenna for the most distant (or weakest) station you want to watch.
