  • Erase/Refomat Tivo Harddrive

Haven't seen this one yet (still looking)
replace the HDDs on my friend's Series 2 (two machines) and he gave me the old HDDs one is a Maxtor 40gb the other a 120gb. I was hoping to make use of the 120 but for some reason I can't erase the darn thing. I have a G4 Quicksilver and no matter what I've tried it comes back saying it can't erase it.
did we pull them just in time or is there more that I don't understand ?
    Thanks

You might want to download Seagate utilities (which should work w/Maxtor drives) and see if you can use that to test/format/partition the drive. I think it's called SeaTools.
