  • Pixelation, repair or buy TiVo Premier?

I had a power surge recently and ever since, some of the TiVo recordings have big pixelation problems. I have the series 3 HD Tivo, with a multi-stream cable card installed. It seems that the worst of the recordings are coming from 'over-the-air' channels even though I get everything through RCN. My question is whether I should try to repair or upgrade the HD series 3 TiVo or go for the new Premiere. Is it possible that the cable card has problems because of the power surge? Or is the pixelation a sign that the hard drive is about to crash?
    Thanks for listening (or reading....).

    I'd try a kickstart 54, at least:

If that doesn't show a bad drive, then if you have monthly service, I'd get a Premiere. If you have lifetime, then it may be worth contacting TiVo about a repair - only they can repair the motherboard on that unit.

If the drive is bad, get a new one!
