  • Hard drive swap

I had a Phillips DSR704 Tivo that had a mother board failure. I bought a used one off E-Bay and wanted to swap the hard drive from my bad unit into the new (to me) unit since I had upgraded it with one of the kits sold here. When I swapped them, the new unit works but I get a hardware error message that says something about I can't record or watch any content until this problem is resolved. The message indicates to restart the unit but this doesn't help. I really would like to keep the content that's on my old hard drive and play it from the new unit if possible. I'm hoping it's a serial number issue or something and I could go into the Had Drive and edit a file or something and make it work... Any ideas??

Thanks in advance for the help.

Yup - that's the error #51 and that's completely correct, given the situation.

More info about how to fix that is here:
