It can be added, but not automatically. You can send the TiVo and the drive to us and we can marry the two together, but only the TiVo-authorized drive will marry to the TiVoHD's factory hard drive automatically.Comment

CHarter & Series 3 Cable cards
Tivo 3 series 750GB. Charter provider. Have cable tuner installed. Charter took the 2 S cable cards out and replaced them with one M cable card, no 2nd card. N o I can only record what I am watching. TIVO says I need 2 cable cards, either 2 S or 2 M"s. Cable provider say's I only the M Cable card. Indicates I will need 2 cable tuners which will not work with my TIVO. I work fine with 2 S cable card will it work with 2 M cable cards?

Yes - it'll work with 2 M cards. TiVo is right.
The original Series3 supports M cards, but only at one stream each.
The techs at Charter are thinking of newer boxes, which can get two streams from one M card.Been here a long time . . .Comment

Will all S3 HD Tivos work with a single M cable card, or only newer units? Is there a way to tell before trying?Comment
