  • Series 2 - 140060 Restart Issue

    I recently had a friend upgrade my Tivo Series 2 with a 500GB PATA Western Digital drive after the previous factory installed drive failed.

    When I got the unit home, it was still showing the four lights on the front panel and he recommended I use the restart boot code: 32768.

    This worked and the unit powered up, but with a Direct TV menu. When I tested LIVE TV I see a no cable signal message (blue screen).

    I've tried every imaginable configuration with the wire inputs and cable, but can't get the unit to recignize the new hardware.

    Any thoughts as to what I can do?

    I think you have some cabling issues, because when you unplug a TiVo and plug it in, you should not see any reference to DIRECTV.

      Any chance when the drive was configured that it was incorrectly initialized with Direct TV software instead of the TIVO software? I was hoping it was only a code that needed to be re-entered to get me back to my old software. The Direct TV menu is prompting me to contact them to "activate" my TIVO. No matter if I follow the TIVO installation instructions for hooking up the cable and TIVO to my TV, I can't get a live signal. On top of that, the Direct TV menu doesn't offer a networking/wirless phone option for me to possibly sych up and get guide info.

      All in all, very frustrating : (
