TIVO HD and component cable switch

my tv has only 1 component cable in, & I need 2 inputs (for a TIVO and DVD) so I am using a switcher. Some problems like horizontal lines and audio feedback occuring. Are there recommendations for brands of component switchers to use? powered or non-powered? Thanks!

We really haven't used one of those in years. Your TV doesn't have HDMI or DVI? Does your DVD maybe have a pass-through?

Also, if your DVD isn't HD, you won't lose too much by stepping it down to composite.
