  • Video fine, no audio: mechanical hdmi prob?

I have a series 3 HD box. I am losing my audio intermittently but my video is fine. When this happens, I pull my hdmi cable out of the box, reinsert it a few times and eventually the sound comes back. When I turn the TV off and come back later, I usually have the same problem and need to play with the hdmi connection again. I switched hdmi cables and get the same problem. I am thinking maybe there is a mechanical problem with the female hdmi slot in my tivo box? Ever heard of this problem or any fix recommendations?

We really haven't seen that problem.

    Could it be interference?

Have you tried rebooting the TiVo?

Have you tried another HDMI component, or connecting the TiVo to another HDMI TV to try to figure out which piece of equipment is causing the problem?
    Been here a long time . . .

I've tried rebooting the TiVo without success, and I've also plugged the hdmi into my dvd player and it works fine. I have switched hdmi cables, but still the sound eventually goes out and I need to "play" with the connection until it works again.

I'm not sure about interference? Is there a way I can test that or what would cause it?

      Thanks.

The best way to test for interference is to move the unit to another TV/Room/location and see if the problem follows the unit.
