for a month or 2 I was experiencing really bad stuttering and sometimes i would have to skip 5-10 minutes of play back to view a show. I finally decided enough was enough and bought a blank 250GB DB35 and the weaKnees SATA IDE converter to put in my tivo (tivo brand 24004A). Only after I opened the box and looked at the old drive did I realize I bought a drive with the wrong interface. When I plugged the old drive back in and tried to boot tivo, it got stuck at the gray welcome screen.

So after buying the converter here, I used instantcake to install (using the converter to make sure it worked) and everything went perfectly. I saw the full drive capacity recognized and the install seemed to complete normally. I also tried hooking up my old tivo drive and got a read error so i was pretty confident the new drive would fix my issue, but to my dismay after putting the new drive in I am experiencing the same problem. I even set the jumper to limit the drive to 1.5G/s.

I opened up the box and I see power going to the converter and the green light on the front of the box is lit up, but the amber light is not responsive to the remote. Could there be some other issue? I unplugged and plugged back in every cable I saw in the box.
