Complete loss of audio

I have a Series 3 HD TiVo - the original hard drive starting failing about 6 months or so back and I replaced it with a new one.

For the last few weeks, I have had zero sound from the TiVo - no TiVo interaction sounds, no sound on playback, no sound on live TV - zip. Many many reboots have not resolved things. TV sound itself is fine - DVD playback works, over the air TV works.

Any tips on troubleshooting this or am I looking at a replacement TiVo?

If it's not a power supply problem or a bad cable, then it's a bad motherboard I'm sorry to say. Sometimes power supplies can cause a loss of audio, but not always.

I grew a brain & hooked it up using component cables

Sound now works...that narrows it down to either the HDMI cable or the HDMI ports. Quite a relief!

That's good news. Glad to hear it. Component + optical is not a bad solution if your HDMI is bad.
