    SD-dvr40 problems/green screen

    Okay, my Tivo was having problems with pausing the shows I had recorded and were recording. And the remote took time to respond. So I used kickstart 57. Now all my Tivo does is startup to the powering up and almost there screen and then goes to the "A severe error has occurred". Green screen. Then after a few minutes it restarts itself.


    I'm told it could be a harddrive problem. But if I want to replace the original harddrive in my TIVO. Would I need to backup the original drive to the new drive. Or is there a program that installs the tivo software?Or can I fix the green screen problem?

    That's almost definitely a hard drive problem. A "replace" kit for your model should fix the problem:

    You really can't copy the OS off the drive you have since it's pretty obviously corrupted.

      I don't need anything from the original drive.So what OS would I need to put on the drive? I have a 250gb harddrive that I don't use.
