  • Slow deleting and menu refreshes with TiVo Series 2 540040 - Terabyte Upgrade Kit

I installed a weaKnees TiVo Series 2 540040 Terabyte Upgrade Kit in December.

All worked great and love the extra capacity. But now that the large had drive is filling up with Tivo recommended shows it now has Slow deleting and menu refreshes.

The problem seemed to become more apparent as the Tivo Suggestions recording list went from 100 into the 500's. When I delete or clear a program it takes up to 20 seconds to remove the deleted item and refresh the menu. So deleting \ clearing all of my unwanted TiVo Suggestions could take several hours to complete.

Is this because there are too many listings? Is this a known issue? Is there a fix or some advance menu to re index to speed up deletion and refreshing lists?

That really isn't a known issue. Inside of the Season Pass Manager, slow response it the norm, but not in deleting.

You don't really need to delete TiVo Suggestions - they'll roll off as needed to make space available.

Have you tried just rebooting the unit?

Yes, tried the reboot. Warm and Cold reboots with the unit off for a night. It is not specific to deleting TiVo Suggestions, deleting \ clearing anything is a 20 to 30 second process. I just thought it may speed things up if I cleared out the list or if there is some index that can be rebuilt with an hidden advanced menu.. Deleting \ refreshing now playing list is as poky as the Season Pass Manager. I am thinking about resetting the unit to factory default, but don't want to dump all my shows if that is not the issue. Any other ideas are welcome.

Try a "clear and delete guide data" which forces a database rebuild, and see if that helps.
