Hello,
Have a secondary tivo i use that is giving me problems. It has been known
in the past to occasionally freeze the video on the screen..you come
back to it the next morning and the picture is stuck, requiring power cycling
the unit to unfreeze it. It has done it a few times before.
However, yesterday after recycling the power on the tivo, it is stuck on the
welcome...powering up screen. Considering it is probably 3 or 4 years old,
i'm guessing the hard drive is about to bite the dust. I just powered it up,
it sounds like the hard drive powers up although i hear a bit of an odd quick
click, click, click sound, then it was stuck on powering up for the longest time and then after 10 minutes it clicked again and finally powered up to
working. Let me know if the symptoms suggest something else other
than a drive about to go south. I wouldn't be surprised it if locks
up again in the next 24 hours. I keep hearing a decently loud hard
drive click every few minutes...don't remember it doing that before...
but for the moment it's working.
On the good side my main tivo is still plugging away with the 2 hard drives
that i got from you guys about 2 years ago has helped prolong the life of
my Hughes SD-DVR40, love that old DVR.
