After returning from vacation, I am getting bluescreen error code 161-1 on one of my Tivos. If I (1) try a Kickstart (2) followed by code 59 (enter guided setup) and (3) insert a different Cablecard, will I lose my recorded programs?

Well, you shouldn't, but that assumes a properly working TiVo, and yours isn't, so all bets are off.

What model of TiVo is this?

If you're stuck in the blue screen, I don't really see what other options you have at this point to try to save your data.
