  • Linux and the Laptop (aka any possibilities without IDE)

A few years ago when I first got a Tivo I came to Weaknees and ordered a bracket, cooling fan, and a device that temporarily delayed the startup of the second hard drive because of power or something.

Anyways fast forward a few years and I just picked myself up a Series2DT and I wanted to put my old Tivo back into stock condition to 1) Reclaim the hardware and put it into the new DT and 2) sell it on EBay.

The Problem: All I have now is a mac book pro. Is there _ANY_ way to use the linux boot CD to format the old drive back into a single and take the extra drive and put it into the new DT?

    I have:
    Macbook Pro with Firewire400/USB.
    PATA to Firewire400 adapters
    PATA to SATA adapters
    PATA to USB

Also: Because this isn't clear anywhere, I know Series 2 Tivos cant record HDTV, but can they pass the signal through to a HDTV set?

    Thanks!

If there's a way, we don't know about it. Sorry.

Also, any S2 unit can't even pass-through HD. But most HD cable boxes also have SD outputs that these can use.
    Been here a long time . . .
