Toshiba SDH 400 DVD player wont read discs

I just resurrected a Toshiba SDH 400 with a 1TB drive from Weaknees. I made it through set up, and the recorder is working. However, the dvd player always gives a disc error with every disc I play. I would say it's been about 18-24 months since I used the unit. Any ideas?

Sorry to say, the player in that unit is basically impossible to replace at this point.

Been here a long time . . .
