  • Western Digital -WD5000AAKB - Compatible for Tivo upgrade?

    I was wondering if there are any known issue with the Western Digital drive WD5000AAKB with a Series 2 dual tuner? It's the 16 meg cache model. I'm thinking of using it to upgrade my Tivo. Any issues?

    It should work, but it isn't a DVR-specific drive.
    Been here a long time . . .

      The only reason I asked is that I read in a forum that an U.K. Tivo owner had a problem with this drive in a series 1 Tivo. He said that it was a firmware issue. I just wanted to see if there was any known issues with a series 2.

        Dvr-specific IDE drive are kinda of hard to find lately. Everyone is out of stock. I've been waiting 3 weeks now for Newegg and other sites to get more in stock. The ones that do have it in stock are charging a lot more then I'm willing to pay.

              Yes, we have. They have been working quite well for us.

                  Space concerns on the 130040 and 140060 units, but otherwise, they fit fine, and they have adhesive so that they don't slip at all.

                    Thanks. I'm probably going to order one from Weakness next week. Now, I'll just have to choose a nice Sata drive. Probably a Western Digital "Green" drive.

                    Thanks guys for all your help!

                      I bought a couple of the adapters, and I'm getting ready to install. Noticed there was a jumper, which I assume is for master/slave.

                      Can you please tell me if jumper installed is Master?

                        Just answered my own question

                        Re-Read the web page.

                        Master = Jumper On
