  • Endless Powering up recycle

Replaced the bad TiVO hard drive in my Series 2 with the Weaknees 160 HD kit. Install went great and started the system up. After going out on the network the TiVO started the connection routine. I came back and now the unit is in a constant loop of "Welcome, Powering Up" followed by a reboot.

At a loss as to what else I can do. I have disconnected everthing, re-routed the cable so there is not any splits.

Try unplugging any USB device and see if that helps.

I didn't have any USB devices connected to begin with.

OK - then we should get the drive back here for a check. Email us at [email protected] or post your order number.

Thanks, however my wife can not wait any longer so I will go a different route.
I have a RMA and will send it back tomorrow.

I was hoping there was a trick to get it to work but it appears not.

My Tivo TCD540080 series 2 has same problem

First problem was that Tivo would show orange 'Welcome! Powering up...' screen for ~15 seconds, then go to an all-gray screen where it would sit indefinitely. After attaching the factory (maxtor) Tivo hard drive to my computer, the diagnostic tool said it was bad. Last friday I ordered a 160GB replacement drive from weaknees and installed it today.

Now the behavior is orange 'Welcome! Powering up...' screen for about 60 seconds, then an obvious reboot (loss of video) for a few seconds, then back to the orange 'Welcome! Powering up...' screen. This loop has been going on for several hours.

            Suggestions?

(I have never been able to get the pause button on the tivo remote to force the tivo into the disk diagnostics, should this work?)

Did your kit come with a replacement hard drive cable? If so, you really need to be sure that you use that.
