Changing from DirecTV R10 to R16

I bought an upgraded HD from weaKnees a while ago for my DirecTV R10. We received a new DirecTV R16 unit in the mail today and I want to put the larger HD in the new unit. Is it just a matter of swapping out the hard drives or will I need to do something with the software to make it work properly?

You cannot put a larger drive in an R16, I'm sorry.

Oh ok. Is that just a limitation of the device itself?

Will they ever be able to be upgraded?

Correct; it seems to be a limitation of the device. We unfortunately have no idea what DIRECTV has in store for the R16.
