I have upgraded my Tivo units with no issues. Since they are a few years old should I also change the battery? Can this be done without power? I don't want to loose any settings.

There is no reason to replace the battery; they last for a LONG time and serve primarily to keep the date/time in the event it is unplugged for a long time. -
But in the future if I am inside I can easily replace it. But will probably loose tiem etc. until i connect. Is this correct? Any special instructions?Comment

No special instructions, but if you have a Series1 TiVo, this is a tough thing to do. You have to remove the entire motherboard if I recall. In our 8 years in business we have never come across a TiVo needing a new battery.Comment
