Is my Series 2 dead?

My single tuner series 2 (purchased from Weaknees about 4 years ago) has taken to freezing--often--and not accepting any input from the remote without a reboot. Am I correct that 1) this is symptomatic of a bad hard drive and 2) there is no fix and the unit is basically dead (and worthless) unless I replace the hard drive?

Your symptoms are consistent with a bad drive, and a new drive is the solution if you have a bad drive. We don't consider units with bad drives "dead (and worthless)" because there is a fix that can be installed yourself without paying anyone (including us) labor to diagnose or repair it.

Thanks, Jeff. I did realize that I could swap the hard drive, I was just hoping for a cheap fix. As it is, I decided to use the $ to upgrade to an HD unit, which you folks already have on the way to me.
