Unlocking Seagate Barracuda 750 gb drive

i had a drive that failed and weeknees replaced it. now i want to try and use the old drive in my Vista computer. it is not recognized by Vista. the Seagate tech told me that it is locked for tivo but that weeknees could help me unlock it so i can try to use it with my computer.

it is plugged in to the computer but not seen.

can you help?

In our experience, TiVos do not lock Seagate drives.

When you put the drive in a PC (or use Seagate's testing tools) what does the PC show as the drive capacity?

it is not even showing up as attached to the computer. i think i have the cables plugged in correctly.

I think you might have a dead drive, rather than a locked drive. TiVo's will not lock a Seagate drive and cause it not to be recognized at all. Have you tried testing it?
