I have a Tivo that I added a 200GB hard drive to 2 years ago as a second drive. The Master drive went bad and I need to install a new one. I want to know if I install a new drive will it be able to recognize my 200GB drive? Do I have to do something to make it do that and keep what is on there? I would like to keep the shows on the "slave" drive if I can.

I have already tried the Hinsdale method and my master drive is corrupt. I can't backup anything on the drive. I want to know if I put in a new master drive will the slave drive work that I already have in the unit. If not how do I save my recordings on the slave drive. I already realize that I am going to lose everything on the master drive unless you have some way to make that work.Comment

The two drives in your unit now are a married pair. If you replace the master with a fresh installation, you will lose everything the slave, no way around it.Comment
