In the last few months or so I have suddenly had a number of DVD recording internal error failures with my Humax drt400. Around 50% of my recordings burn just fine.

A program that fails to record properly, will not succeed no matter how many times I try, or what brand disc I use. The shows do look fine when viewed from the hard drive.

It would seem to me that this type of random yet persistent failure is more likely the hard drive than the burner. Correct?

Anyway to re-format to mark bad sectors or something or do I just need to buy a new hard drive?
