    My old tivo s2 240 Keeps locking up

    My tivo has been locking up a lot this week. I get a black screen and no response from the remote. sometimes there is a frozen video on it but still no response to the remote. The tivo has two hard drives in it. one is the 80 gig that came with it the other one is a 160 gig i bought from weaknees.com

    hope someone can help me with this. its a lifetime tivo.

    That's almost definitely a hard drive problem. A "replace" kit for your model should fix the problem:

      If i replace the 80gig drive that came with tivo. will the added 160gig drive still work? How do i know what drive is bad? I guess the oldest drive should be the bad one.

        No - you should replace both drives with one new, larger drive. Unless you can test and reformat these drives yourself, it's not worth the time and expense to get them to us for testing, since you could find out that both are bad.

        A 300 GB drive is now only $20 more than a $160 . . .
