  • DirectTv DVR40 freezing up

    I have a Hughes Series 2 DVR40 that just began freezing up this week. I had previously encountered this problem so I replaced the HD with one from Weaknees. Now after about 90 days of use, the problem is back. When I turn on the tv, there's no picture. Pulling the plug and re-booting restores the picture.The DVR runs through a UPS and we've had no severe weather so I can be confident that there has been no surge problem. software ver 6.4a01-2-151. It downloaded service data last night. It seems that the problem occurs immediately following the service data download. Did I waste $$ on the new HD?

    First, if it's 90 days old, it's under warranty.

    Next, does it happen every morning? Are you using Standby?

      Standby?

      I've never used standby and it has now happened twice, but not daily. OTOH...it doesn't download service data daily.

        See the "repair" email - we should get the drive back here for a check.
