    Series 2 Tivo not booting - Stumped

    Hi, I have 4 Series 2 Tivo's (yes 4). I have upgraded two with Multiple Drives and am not squimish about opening them. About a year ago I had one that wouldn't boot. Turned out it needed a new PS.

    Recently, I had one that was rebooting during playback. I finally decided to use the Reset All. It never recovered. I reimaged the HD and it boots on one of my known good sytems, but won't boot in the Suspect box. I swapped PS's. The Donor box boots fine but the suspect box will not boot with the known good PS.

    So after swapping parts the only suspect left is the MB. Does WeaKnees trouble shoot MB's?

    We really don't for non-DirecTV units.

    But that's still pretty strange. Does the drive from the known good unit work in the problem unit?

      The drive from the known good unit has the same result "Welcome, Powering Up". The common denominater seems to be the MB. With the known good PS and known good drive I still can't boot past the Powering Up. I am open to any ideas at this point.

        It really must be the motherboard, but I should say that almost every time we ever see a TiVo stuck on Powering Up, the drive is the problem.

        Could the IDE connector on the motherboard be broken?
