  • Occasional Freeze

I have a TiVo HD from Weaknees purchased about 3 months ago It has an upgraded hard drive to 43 hours HD. In the last week I am having a freeze problem. If I fast forward a recorded program and press play it sometimes freezes. I can get it to work if I rewind or FF a few times. Sometimes it freezes when I change channels on live TV . It will freeze on the new channel. I have to wait a moment and rewind and FF to get it to work. It doesn't do it all of the time but it does it a lot. Also, I have only noticed this problem in HD recordings or Channels. What do you think the problem is. Thanks.

If it is on HD stations only, it is unlikely a drive problem. It may be a CableCARD problem. Have you contacted the cable company to get a replacement card and/or have them check your cable signal?

      Freeze in HD

I have not called the cable company as I thought it was a TiVo problem. I dread calling Comcast for a cable card problem as it took 5 visits to get it installed properly the first time. No one seems to know what they are doing at Comcast. I might wait and see if it worsens.

It is now happening to non HD channels as well. Does that change things?

I rebooted the TiVo and it is working fine.

Reboots are the best troubleshooting step!

            Tell us if it reappears.
            Been here a long time . . .
