  • Hughes DirecTV TiVo Problem

    I have a 5 year old Hughes TiVo and recently have gotten messages telling me "the receiver has not connected to the service for the past 21 days, please connect to attempt to connect to the service now".
    I have tried 5 different numbers, and have not been able to connect.
    I think my modem might be done.
    What are my options?
    I REALLY don't want a DirecTV DVR. Know people who have them and they're awful.
    I'm going to have to bite the bullet eventually and get a HD DVR, but in the meantime...

      Entered Prefix

      I have edited my phone settings and have entered the prefix you suggested.
      It takes FOREVER for the TiVo to dial.
      When it tried to dial with the prefix entered message came back "could not connect".
      I have a wireless connection which plugs into the wall, which is operating fine.

        IS it possible that DSL is messing the connection up?
        I have had DSL for 4 years, and never had any problems until 3 months ago.
        TiVo doesn't offer too many helps but to disconnect the DSL filters and try again, also to disable DSL then try again.
        I have not had any problems with dialing in having DSL before about 3 months ago.
        Don't know what else to do.

          You definitely need a DSL filter on this line for this to work.
