  • Searching for signal on: Basic Cable In

I have a Series 2 540040 modified to about 230 hours with a Weaknees add on drive. I just moved a couple of miles away and upon reconnecting this TiVo via coax it doesn't appear to be getting any input signal from my cable. I verified there was no change to settings regarding input. I get the message listed above in the title of this thread. It doesn't appear to be signal strength related because the same connection works on my my Series 3. Outputs are good as it plays previous recorded content. Any ideas?

Are you sure you have it connected to the right port on the back of the unit?

Was it originally using coax at the first house? If not, you need to redo Guided Setup to change the video input source.
    Been here a long time . . .

      Everything is the same

Connected to Cable/Antenna RF IN just as before. Straight in cable, no box just as before. First try at rectifying problem was to repeat guided setup. Changed nothing but ZIP code. Connected a third TiVo in the house to these inputs and was succesful. Reconnected original TiVo still no signal in. System Information page shows - Program Source: Cable without box - Source Input: Coax RF In.

Sounds like the tuner is shot. Maybe something happened to it during the move.

          Can I fix it?

So is the tuner replaceable or am I out of luck?

Since your unit is a non-DIRECTV unit, your best bet is to contact TiVo directly. They will not likely fix it, but will instead charge you something to replace the unit.

              Sending back

Seeing as I have modified the unit with one of your drives, do you think they will still work with me? (it has lifetime service) If I do send it back, should I pull the extra weaknees drive I installed?

you have no warranty on the unit once you open it. however, you are not looking for warranty work.

if you send the unit back with our drive, you will not get the upgrade drive back, so you might want to return the unit to its factory specifications before sending it back.
