  • Humax DVD recorder w/Tivo -- Slow Performance

I've had my my Humax DVD recorder with Tivo for about four years. The performance (time required to play a show, switch menu screens, etc.) has gradually slowed to a crawl.

I have discarded several old DirecTV TiVo DVRs with the same problem; I was told their tuners had gradually "worn out." Could this be happening with the Humax box, or could it be that I simply need to clean out old recordings and make more space on the hard drive?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

Sounds like a corrupt drive. You should try a new one from here:

I also need a new DVD drive. Do you sell them?

          DRT400 vs DRT800

Looks like I might be better off buying a refurbished unit from you. What is the difference between the DRT400 and the 800?

I'm in L.A. Can I drop my unit off to have you diagnose the problem with the slowing?

Sure - just order the $99 test and repair labor charge here first:
