DRT400 vs DRT800 HARD DRIVE

Hello,
Can a hard drive formatted for a DRT800 be used in a
DRT400, and vice verse, or does the drive formatted for the DRT800 have to be reformatted for the DRT400 to be
used in a DRT400.
I am going on the assumption that the only difference between the two are the 40 gb and 80 gb drives, and the software is the same in both units.
Please let me know if my assumption is incorrect.

At this point, the software is the same. You can move a drive at will, but you'll need to do a "clear and delete everything" once the drive has moved units to get it to reserialize to the new unit. Otherwise you'll get a hardware error #51.
